Fire suppression system
forestry machines
An engine fire in a forest machine can quickly cause severe damages. The progress of the fire is highly dependent on the machine’s and the operator’s fire suppression capacity.
Outstanding effect
Choking and cooling time at least double compared to other certified systems* which prevents reignition.
*SP4912 method test result
Conscious design
Small-sized pipes and space-conscious design.
Minimal downtime
Quick recharging for minimal downtime.
The problem
A high fire risk area
The combination of wood chips, chippings and bark that whirl around, hydraulic oil, fuel and high temperatures constitute a high fire risk area in the engine compartment of a forest machine. As the forest machines often work in distant areas, the progress of the fire is highly dependent on the machine’s and the operator’s fire suppression capacity. The consequence of an engine fire in a forest machine is at best a production stop. In worst case, the whole forest burns down.
our solution
Completely automatic and permanent fire suppression system
A fire in an unprotected engine compartment is hard to detect in time and often develops in intensity extremely quickly. This type of fire is almost impossible to fight with a portable fire extinguisher. Because of this, the need for safety regulations has increased over the past years, leading to the installation of automatic and permanent fire suppression systems in wood chip trucks and forestry machinery. This approach is becoming more and more common for insurance agencies and manufacturers/operators throughout the world.
The double piston accumulators is the base of the Fogmaker system and should have a working pressure of 100-105 bar at 20 degrees C.
The distribution system consists of distribution hoses, pipes, fittings, and spray nozzles. The system distributes the suppression liquid from the piston accumulator out into the fire-protected area.
The detector bottle is the base for the detection system and the pressurized detection tube. This bottle is checked with every annual inspection to ensure correct pressure and functionality.
Fire and fault alarm signals – a constant alarm signal equals fire! An alarm signal every 60 seconds equals a fault alarm, it could be a sign of a broken cable, faulty pressure switch/signal module, leakage/low pressure etc.
Manual actuator (optional) – by mounting an actuator on the detection line the Fogmaker system may deploy by hand –manually.
How it works
Reliable and robust system that is always active
High-pressure water mist has an outstanding choking and cooling effect. The system is always active – no power supply is needed for activation or system monitoring. Also, Fogmaker has a longer emptying time than many competing systems, which is critical to prevent reignition and downtime. This also buys extremely valuable time for evacuation. With 27 years of experience and a wide international network, we offer you a reliable and robust system with a low TCO.
Advantages
Retrofit existing machinery
OEM:s choose to sell Fogmaker fire suppression as a standard option, and end customers choose to retrofit existing machinery. For many years we have cooperated with some of the industry giants in these areas.
